Arusha Convention Centre to Boost Conference Tourism

Tanzania is moving forward with plans for the long-awaited Mt. Kilimanjaro International Convention Centre (MK-ICC) in Arusha.

The ambitious $116 million first phase is set to begin construction soon and aims to be completed in 2027.The state-of-the-art MK-ICC will feature a massive main hall, shopping malls, restaurants and five-star hotels on 21 acres near Arusha's city center. Officials say the new world-class venue will allow Tanzania to become a leading African destination for conventions, exhibitions, and entertainment events.

"MK-ICC will coincide with hosting our largest ever international conference in 2027, boosting convention tourism," said outgoing Arusha Convention Centre MD Ephraim Mafuru. The project has been 18 years in the making to expand Tanzania's conference facilities.
