Government injects £1m into Ibanda-Kyerwa NP infrastructure



A £1 million investment to develop infrastructure at Ibanda-Kyerwa National Park in the Kagera Region has been announced.


This move aims to boost the western tourism circuit, reflecting the country’s commitment to enhancing tourism.


Announced by Musa Juma Kuji, (Conservation Commissioner at TANAPA), the funds will be used to significantly enhance tourism facilities and park operations. Emphasizing the Government's dedication to protecting and managing Tanzania's natural heritage, he explained that, "This investment reflects the President's commitment to developing the western tourism cicruit and improving the park's infrastructure".


Developments include plans for contructing a state of the art tourist entrance complex and modern staff housing. The project, already 55% complete, includes new offices, road networks, and essential facilities.


The initiative, is expected to be finished by November, will improve operational efficiency and visitor experience.

The 200sqkm park, gazetted in 2019, is rich in wildlife attractions.


Kagera river is the main source of water for this park and nourishes its rich resources. Leopard, Hippos, Roan antelopes, Buffalo and many more are found in the park
