Hilton coming to Zanzibar in world's tallest hybrid-timber tower!

Hilton has announced plans to debut its boutique lifestyle brand with Canopy by Hilton, Zanzibar, expected to open in 2027.

Guests will enjoy sophisticated comfort and spectacular coastal views at this unique seafront destination. Featuring 162 guest rooms and suites across 28 storeys, it will be located in the heart of the new Fumba Town development at Burj Zanzibar - part of a highly innovative and sustainable mixed-use site.

Burj Zanzibar is set to be the tallest hybrid-timber tower in the world at 95m high. Buildings will use engineered timber - which helps to reduce the overall carbon footprint and waste in comparison to conventional construction techniques. The hotel will be located on the podium level of the Burj Zanzibar development.

Fumba Town, on Zanzibar's west coast will include several residential and lifestyle amenities such as retail spaces, a sports centre, an amusement and water park, and a school. The development will also benefit from a seafront corniche, spanning the entire coastal length and providing walking and jogging tracks, shops, restaurants, play areas, and an amphitheatre.

This latest announcement marks Hilton’s re-entry into Tanzania and reiterates their commitment to "meeting the diverse travel needs and interests of guests visiting Africa.”

Travellers seeking bespoke dining experiences can choose from the hotel’s food and drink outlets, which will include an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby café, a specialty restaurant, and a pool bar. The hotel also features several meeting rooms up to 1,000-square-metres, an exterior room garden and a pre-function area. Additional leisure and recreation facilities include a fitness centre, a spa, an outdoor pool, and a kids club.
