Lemala are proud to partner with SeedBombs, Tanzania to combat deforestation in rural Tanzania. Seed bombs are a simple propagation method of reforestation, and are proven to reverse desertification through no-till farming.
Each ball is made by rolling a seed into a small ball of soil, clay, and organic fertilizer which is thrown into nature to sprout and take root at its own pace. Seed balls can be distributed at any time of year and will wait until the first rains to start germination.
This method of planting trees is not only more cost efficient, less labour intensive but also reduces plastic waste that is involved in traditional methods of planting seeds in plastic bags in tree nurseries.
Newly planted trees capture more carbon from the atmosphere than mature trees, so encouraging reforestation using the efficient SeedBombs method is a great way to offset toy guest’s carbon footprint during their safari.
Just Throw and Grow! It really is that easy, throw a seed bomb and you help grow a tree. The seedballs are approved by Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA).
